SABC 1 Skeem Saam is considered one of the best TV drama shows in South Africa. This show started on the 13th of October 2011, and it is an amazing thing that some of the characters are still in the show, performing their best. However, some of the actors left the show due to some different reasons; as a result, their roles got recast by other actors.

Skeem Saam has recast so many characters. This is done for good reasons, including the fact that they want to keep the story alive and at its best. Here are the characters that were recast:
1. Charles Kunutu

At the beginning of Skeem Saam in 2011, the character of Charles Kunutu was played by actor Mpho Molepo, who is known for his role as ‘Kabisi Moroka’ on Generations: The Legacy.
Masilo Magoro took over the character in 2013, and he has been doing incredible justice for the role ever since.
2. Sthoko

The role of Sthoko was portrayed by Maisha Pauline Manamela, who is married to Skeem Saam actor Matthews Manamela, who plays the role of ‘Captain Babeile’.
In the year 2016, the actress Innocent Sadiki stepped in and took over the character of Sthoko.
3. Ramolao

The character of Ramolao was portrayed by the late actor Isaac Thema Mokoena. After the passing of Isaac in 2019, the role of Ramolao was taken by Mavabasa Mathebula.
4. Tbose

Actor Cornet Mamabolo was one of the starring actors of the show. He played the character of Tbose from the first season and first episode in 2011. In 2021, he left the show because he wanted to focus on building his empire that creates job opportunities.
Those leaving left a huge gap in the show, which is why they decided to recast the role. Actor Hungani Ndlovu stepped in as Tbose, and he has been working very incredibly and owned the character originally.
5. Pitsi

The character of Pitsi was portrayed by child actor Lethabo Thangoane for several years. On the 2nd of September 2024, the role was taken over by child actor Lethabo Matsetela.
6. Jazzy-T

Karabo Mokhubela played the character of Jazzy-T for years. Everyone was left heartbroken by the death of Karabo. The character of Jazzy-T had to be replaced; as a result, actor Mpho Molepo was given the character, and he owned it gracefully.
