A student from the University of Venda who was taken into custody in relation to his girlfriend’s death is scheduled to appear in Limpopo’s Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The victim, a fellow student, was fatally stabbed by the suspect, a 20-year-old student, according to police, after a fight. The victim was stabbed on Friday while staying off campus. After hearing screams and requests for assistance, police said security officers forcibly opened the door.
According to reports, a female student’s body was discovered with stab wounds in a pool of blood. The suspect is a second-year Bachelor of Environmental Science student, and the dead was a first-year Bachelor of Arts student. The suspected murder weapons have also been found by the police. The suspect will be charged with homicide.
The family of 19-year-old Vhulondo Nevhukalanga, a student at the University of Venda (UNIVEN), says they were not aware she was in a relationship with the fellow student who allegedly stabbed her to death.
