Itumeleng Bokaba, a singer and former Rhythm City actress, claims she was paid just 59 cents to sing the lead vocals on Kwesta’s popular song, Mayibabo.
In a TikTok video, the actress from Rhythm City and former YoTV star Okashi claims that she was paid 59 cents for her chorus-singing contribution to Kwesta’s hit song Mayibabo.
In the video, she also discloses that, despite fighting for recognition and pleading with SAMRO (the South African Music Rights Organisation) for credit, she only made 59 cents. Bokaba continues by saying that she found out DJ Maphorisa, whose true name is Themba Sekowe, had received the money that was owed to her.
“I was told by Nota that the money was given to Themba, at least I made 59 cents after trying to get SAMRO to add my name,” she adds.
The song performed by Kwesta also features DJ Maphorisa, DJ Buckz, and Okmalumkoolkat.
People shared their comments in the comment section saying: @tebohoreginald: “Mampho can sing bathong. She has such a nice voice.”
