The South African entertainment industry is in grief after the death of veteran actress Connie Chiume at the age of 72. The Chiume family informed that the beloved actress passed away earlier today at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg.
Connie Chiume, the core of South African television and movies, left a record of excellence spanning four decades. Chiume’s career was defined by various famous roles that won her fans both locally and internationally.
Her breakthrough performance was in the hit TV show “Zone 14,” where she portrayed the strong character Stella Moloi. She became an even more popular figure in South African drama after this performance. Chiume’s skill was further displayed when she played Mamokete Khuse in the enduring soap opera “Rhythm City,” where she became well-known and an inspiration to many aspiring performers.
Apart from her years of experience in television, Chiume also made remarkable contributions to South African film. She portrayed the part of a Mining Tribe Elder in the highly acclaimed film “Black Panther,” which brought her international prominence.
