Supporters of Isencane Lengane, a reality show hosted by Moja Love that captures the life of a 16-year-old couple, are angry. The show, now in its sixth season, revolves around Siyacela and Thando Dlamuka, who married six years ago and have a two-year-old child.
Siyacela and Thando have faced numerous challenges over the years, including handling marriage at such an early age, fighting with the Thabethe family, and losing Siyacela’s father, Dlamuka. In the season’s final episode, Thando’s mother confronted Siyacela over comments he made in a previous episode.
Siyacela announced that he was looking for something fresh and exciting therefore he intended to take a second wife. After a furious exchange between Siyacela and his mother-in-law, Thando broke down in tears and left the Dlamuka residence. Siyacela took his car after she left and drove to Thando’s location to pick up their two-year-old son. Later, viewers learnt that Siyacela, his brother Thando, and their son had been in an accident on the way back. Fortunately, they were able to escape the burning automobile before it caught fire due to the collision.
Siyacela disclosed in his diary sessions that he considered locking all the car doors while Thando was inside, with the intention of killing her by burning. In addition, he claimed he didn’t care what happened to her, but he later claimed something changed his mind.
Viewers of the show were startled as to why he would say that, as well as why Moja Love would broadcast Siyacela’s terrifying statement. “I am still in shock and disbelief that Siyacela told the whole country that he a thoughts of locking his wife and child in a burning car. Worse, Moja love played that scene.”
