Generations: The Legacy former actress Brenda Mhlongo joins ‘Sibongile and The Dlaminis’

South African talented actress Brenda Mhlongo, who played the roles of ‘Nandi’ on Generations:The Legacy and ‘Nomafu’ on The River, has joined Mzansi Wethu’s telenovela Sibongile and The Dlaminis.


According to entertainment pundit Jabu Mcdonald, Brenda Mhlongo, a former cast member of The River, would portray Sibongile’s aunt in Sibongile and Dlaminis.

The teasers for TVSA April imply that Mhlongo’s persona will be involved in Sibongile’s talks with the Dlaminis.

Monday, April 22: “Sibongile’s aunt demands that the Dlamini family pay inhlawulo for their makoti when she drops her off at their house.”

Mhlongo gained notoriety for her performances as Priscilla “KaMadonsela” Bhengu in the canned telenovela Imbewu: The Seed.

She also starred as Nandi, the wife of Jack Mabaso (Vusi Kunene) in the SABC1 serial opera Generations: The Legacy.


The most popular telenovela on Mzansi Wethu and the second most watched TV programme on DStv is Sibongile and The Dlaminis.

According to data released by the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) in February 2024, the programme attracted 819 284 viewers.

Ayanda Borotho and Siyabonga Shibe, who play husband and wife in the telenovela, are also featured in it.

According to Kaya 959, when actress Luyanda Zwane who plays the lead role ‘Sibongile Mbambo’ in the show experiences a forbidden romance and an unexpected Cinderella-like story.

The show covers the ageless themes of love, sacrifice, ambition, and familial ties while taking place in the small KwaZulu-Natal village of Ixopo.

The drama, which also stars Zodumo Shange and Vuyo Biyela, is inspired on the Zuba and the Solalas story from Zambia.
