Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Genesis has become one of the best South African TV stories lately. Let’s give the production team their flowers for the incredible storyline upgrade.
One of the current storylines is that of Ishmael (character played by Craig Nobela) finally meeting his biological mother, Nokuthula Dlamini (character played by Siyasanga Papu). One of the possible reasons that made her abandon Ishmael is because his father probably wanted nothing to do with him; maybe he was a married man. Who do you think is Ishmael’s biological father?
According to Genesis teasers for October 2025, Ishmael is overwhelmed by emotions when he meets his biological mother for the first time. A secret threatens to resurface as a forbidden past comes knocking. Which secret are they referring to? Does this have something to do with Ishmael’s paternal issues?
It is possible that the late Muzi Thabethe might be Ishmael’s biological father. I think Muzi had an affair with Nokuthula, which resulted in pregnancy. Muzi wanted nothing to do with the baby, and so did Nokuthula. She then gave him away, which made him end up in the orphanage.
It will be a very interesting storyline. Imagine Nobuhle and Ishmael discovering that they are half siblings and also Felicia realising that Muzi was actually not a saint; he and Gabriel are actually birds of the same feather.
